Sunday 16th July and the Blaxhall Circuit near Woodbridge is the place to be, come and witness some high octane action, as the best Motocross riders from the UK and Europe compete in the sixth round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean.

The sixth round of this prestigious championship is sure to provide thrills and spills on the spectacular sandy venue just of the A12. Sunday morning at 9am the action starts with practice and qualifying as 120 riders compete during the day. The race programme features two 25 minute plus 2 lap motos for the MX1 and MX2 classes – and two supporting championship races which complete the packed schedule that will keep fans entertained and put the rider’s fitness to the test.

For the host club, Woodbridge and DMCC the return of the event for the third year running, is testament to the standard of the venue, their organisation, which even saw them named as ‘Maxxis Organiser of the Year’ 2016.

One of the toughest and most spectacular forms of motorcycle sports, motocross is especially popular in the Eastern region, and has a strong history of world class riders originating from this area. This year’s event will feature a host of local top riders including Elliott Banks-Browne, Lewis Tombs, Luke Benstead, Shaun Southgate, George Grigg-Pettitt, Luke Parker, Declan Whittle, Tom Grimshaw and Ben Clark who are sure to give the local crowd plenty to cheer about during the day as they all battle for honours.

After the previous round at Desertmartin in Northern Ireland, the championship returns to the mainland for the final three rounds as the battle for the Championship honours heats up. In the MX1 class it was series leader, and Irish rider Graeme Irwin who took the double race win, but it wasn’t without coming under plenty of pressure from Banks-Browne.

At Blaxhall Banks-Browne will be hoping the local track knowledge and home crowd will give him the extra advantage needed to take victory over the rest of the field. But Banks-Browne will face tough opposition from Irwin, Estonian Gert Krestinov who currently sits second in the championship along with former champion Brad Anderson and young guns James Harrison and Rob Davidson who have been making progress this season.

So far this season the MX2 class has produced some of the most exciting racing with a number of new youngsters coming to the forefront of the action. Grand Prix rider Ben Watson currently leads the championship ahead of Irish rider Martin Barr and Estonian Harri Kullas in second and third, whilst local rider Lewis Tombs will be looking to finish inside the top 5 in both races.

New to Blaxhall for the 2017 event, is the all new British 2 Stroke championship and this championship has created some close racing in both the previous rounds. Reigning European 300 Champion Mike Kras currently leads the championship, while Neville Bradshaw will be looking to close down the gap in the standings.

The event is supported locally by Orwell Truck and Van who will be displaying at the event, while Foxwood Ceramics will be sponsoring the Holeshot Award in all classes and Steve Lumley Planing have helped with supporting the venue development.

Blaxhall Circuit is located just off the A12 north of Woodbridge and if using Sat Nav please use the postcode IP17 1LG the circuit will be signposted from that point. All the action starts at 9am with the Qualifying sessions followed by the first main race at 11:55am.
