In just over a week the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean heads to the sandy circuit of Blaxhall (IP17 1LG) near Woodbridge for Round 6 on Sunday 17th July. Following the recent round at Leuchars in Scotland all three championships are closely fought at the top of the standings.

After the successful event at the Blaxhall Circuit last year the championship returns for what looks to be another exciting meeting on the naturally flowing circuit that offers both close racing and great viewing for spectators. The meeting will once again be supported locally by Mercedes Benz Commercial vehicle dealer, Orwell Truck and Van, while Foxwood Ceramics will be providing the Holeshot award and Steve Lumley Road Planing Ltd continue their support of the event and venue.

In the MX1 class the battle for the Championship lead is between reigning champion Shaun Simpson on the Wilvo Virus Performance KTM and Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s Tommy Searle, while the local crowd will be hoping to see Ipswich based Jake Nicholls continue his winning ways. The Hitachi Revo Husqvarna rider has claimed two of the last four race wins and will be hoping to take victory on his home circuit.

Buildbase Honda pairing of Graeme Irwin and Kristian Whatley currently hold fourth and fifth places in the championship respectively while another local rider looking for a strong result will be Geartec Yamaha’s Elliott Banks-Browne.

In the MX2 class the battle for the Championship lead is currently between four riders. Steven Clarke on the Apico Husqvarna currently leads the series ahead of Buildbase Honda’s Martin Barr and fellow Apico Husqvarna rider Bryan MacKenzie who are both tied on points. Just a handful of points further behind is Adam Sterry on the Wilvo Virus Performance KTM in fourth place after taking victory at the previous two rounds.

Local riders James Cottrell on the Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki and Geartec Yamaha’s Lewis Tombs will both be hoping to put together two solid race results and challenge the front runners for podium positions on their home circuit.

The MXY2 class always produces some close racing and current series leader James Carpenter will be looking to continue his good form, while the returning Alexander Brown will be aiming to take another double race victory and close the points gap in the championship leader, while local rider George Grigg-Pettitt currently sits fourth in the championship and will be one rider to watch out for.
