Small Wheel 85cc rider Joel Fisher has had a good start to the 2019 season at the Judd KTM British Youth Championship. Joel returns to the Championship after competing in 2016 in the 65cc class. Joel currently sits 11thin the British Small Wheel 85cc Championship.

We caught up with Joel to see how his season is going and looking ahead to next weekend at Fatcat Moto Parc.

RHL: How has the season gone so far for you?

Joel Fisher: “The season has gone ok so far, not the best but I am happy with where my speed is just need the consistency now.”

RHL: Whitby hosted the second round of the British Youth Championship and was a new venue to the calendar. How was it for you?

Joel Fisher: “Yeah Whitby was definitely a rollercoaster of results going 12-5-26 due to a puncture then 15-9 but I really enjoyed the layout of the track and at how natural it was.”

RHL: Next weekend we head to Fatcat Moto Parc in Doncaster for the halfway point of the 2019 season. What are your thoughts on the track and what are your plans and goal for the weekend?

Joel Fisher: “Fatcats is looking really good, I really like the new layout there and at how well it flows. My plans are to get a good qualifying in which I’ve been struggling to do lately. Then I hope to get top 10s all weekend and break into the top 5 which I know I can do.”

RHL: Going into the next round your 11thin the British Small Wheel 85cc Championship with 276 points and 7 points off 10thplace. How does it feel being within the top 15 UK youth riders in the Official British Small Wheel 85cc Championship?

Joel Fisher: “Being 11thin the Championship feels good but I know I should be top 10, but if all goes well I should be in the top 10 by the end of Fatcats.”

RHL: Can you tell us a bit about what you do between meetings. Do you get much time on the bike practicing and training?

Joel Fisher: “In between meetings I will go to the gym each week at least twice. I do sometimes go riding in the week but I ride every weekend so I get plenty of bike time.”

RHL: Finally is there anyone you would like to thank?

Joel Fisher: “I’d like to thank MRS, Suomy, Rikki Priest, my friends and family, Gaerne, Tech4mx, BRP imports for their support.”
