Youthstream this afternoon have announced the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship Grand Finale which is due to take place in Imola on September 29th & 30th will now be called the MXGP of Italy.

Youthstream is pleased to present the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship Grand Finale which is taking place in Imola on September 29thand 30th will be now called the MXGP of Italy.

The last round of the 2018 MXGP season is bound to be epic bringing back the Motocross Tradition to Imola after the international race organised by Checco Costa in 1948. After 70 years Motocross is back in a track built using the Paddock 2 and ‘Collina della Rivazza’ allowing the thousands of Italian fans to witness the racing at its best.

Together with the MXGP and MX2 Classes also the last round of the WMX and the EMX300 Presented by FMF Racing Championships will take place along with the Yamaha YZ125 SuperFinale. Many national heroes will be present in Imola that weekend, Antonio Cairoli and Kiara Fontanesi the main.

Youthstream Vice President David Luongo stated: “It is a great honor for Youthstream to bring the FIM MXGP World Championship to Imola for the Grand Prix of Italy, one of the most prestigious and well known circuits in the World. We would like to thank Mr. Uberto Selvatico Estense and all of his team for the decision of bringing back Motocross to the venue. We are sure the track and all the activities around the event will be outstanding and that the fans will experience something unique. This event will bring MXGP into a new, bigger dimension.

Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari Director Pier Giovanni Ricci said: “We are very proud to be the unique event in Italy called MXGP of Italy in 2018. This witnesses the great commitment the Autodromo has in this project and the appeal it has at international level. Italy has reached big success in Motocross thanks to the Italian excellences of Antonio Cairoli and Kiara Fontanesi who will both be racing in September to close their championships and we hope to see them batting for another Championship crown. I invite all the fans to not to miss this fantastic show and this is the reason we decided to open the ticketing shops 10 months in advance, in order to respond to all requests we already have”

9-time FIM Motocross World Champion Antonio Cairoli shared: “I’m happy to see that Imola is on the calendar for 2018, it’s a suggestive scenario that bring prestige to MXGP, moreover due to the fact that is the last GP of the year, it could be the right place to celebrate something special in front of my fans.”

5-time Women’s Motocross World Champion Kiara Fontanesi said: I’m really happy to know that 3 of 6 races will be in Italy next year. That’s for me a chance I’ll probably will never get back. Racing on your home soil it’s somehow an advantage so I’m really excited for next season. Ending the season in Imola means a chance to win the championship in front of all my family and fans on a new track and at a new event which I’m sure is going to be really amazing!
