After a quick trip to Texas last weekend, the Monster Energy/Knich/Yamaha Factory Racing team is back in California for Round 3 of the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship this Saturday as the series makes its encore visit to Angel Stadium of Anaheim, just down the street from the headquarters of Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., in nearby Cypress. Cooper Webb (#2) and Justin Barcia (#51) are ready to make this return engagement at Anaheim for “A2” a memorable one. Teammate Davi Millsaps will also be there to meet fans and cheer on the team, even though he won’t be racing.

A2 will be the first round of the Triple Crown, a three-city showdown where the riders will compete in three Main Events. An Olympic-style scoring method will be used to determine an overall winner from all three Main Events where the rider with the lowest combined score at the end will be awarded the overall win.

Commenting on A2, Cooper said, “It’ll be exciting to see what changes are in store for us this weekend with this being the first of the Triple Crown events. I think the sport badly needs some changes to the program just to switch things up and keep the fans interested. This new format gives me a chance to make up some points, as well. Last weekend, we had an unfortunate incident in turn one that was somewhat out of my control, so I look forward to the new event format this weekend and making the most of it!”

“I am absolutely pumped to be heading back to Anaheim, especially since it’s the first leg of the brand-new Triple Crown,” said Justin. “I’m a sprinter by heart, so I think the format will really suit my style of racing. I’m feeling more comfortable every weekend, and I’m definitely ready to have some more fun this weekend at A2!”
