Round 15 of the AMA Supercross Championship made its way to Denver’s Broncos Stadium at Mile High on Saturday for the first time in over two decades and while the temperatures were frigid and even snowy, the battle for the 450SX Championship continued to heat up with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Cooper Webb at the helm. Webb put forth a solid performance in Denver, making his 11th podium appearance of the season to continue his lead with two rounds remaining. His teammate, Marvin Musquin, battled his way to another podium finish by claiming third overall for the night.

Additionally, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC – WPS – FLY – KTM’s Justin Bogle finished just off the podium with a season-best fourth-place finish.

Webb, the fifth-place qualifier, battled his way to a third-place transfer position in 450SX Heat 2. In the Main Event, Webb started just outside the top-five as he rounded the opening lap in sixth. He jumped into the top-five by lap two and he continued to climb his way up to third just before the halfway point. From there, Webb set his sights on catching Musquin and he did just that as the race closed in on the final laps. Webb made his move into second on lap 23 and from there he charged toward the leader, finishing only 7.8 seconds back for second-overall.

Webb: “I rode really well once I got around Joey [Savatgy], I was really good in the whoops, good on the whole track and I was able to catch Marvin and actually pass him put a little gap. I felt like I caught Eli a little bit but he was kind of riding his own race. Overall, it was a good weekend. Obviously, I want to win but it’s still good points and we’ll enjoy this off-weekend.”

Musquin, who qualified second overall on the day, lined up in 450SX Heat 1. After an up-and-down heat race, Musquin was able to secure a fifth-place transfer into the Main Event. In the Main, Musquin powered his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION to the holeshot and early lead. He led the first five laps before engaging in battle with Eli Tomac on lap six. Musquin did his best to latch onto Tomac, but he was soon joined by his teammate, Webb, for second. The KTM duo battled it out for the second-place position, with Musquin ultimately assuming third for the night.

Musquin: “I was not very confident going into the Main after a difficult heat race but good thing we made some changes and they helped me pull off a good start – that was the key to getting on the podium tonight. The track was very difficult with the hard surface and ground but no excuses I gave my best.”

250SX West

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM Factory Racing’s Sean Cantrell claimed a solid sixth-place transfer position in his heat race. In the Main Event, he battled around tenth for the entire race where he ultimately finished 12th for the night.
