We were waiting for Watson, here is Kellett! The English have definitely taken control of the 24MX French Sands Championship. After climbing onto his first podium eight days ago at Saint-Léger de Balson, Todd Kellet (Yamaha) won his first CFS victory at the Ronde des Sables in Hossegor-Caprebton this Sunday, 5th round of the season. The 22-year-old British youngster took over Natan Watson (KTM), taking the lead from the start in a race reduced to 2 hours due to high tides. The latter retains the championship leader’s red plaque.

Kellet offers Yamaha his second victory of the season after that of Maxime Renaux at Berck. Behind the two Englishmen is a radiant Yentel Martens (Honda), who was seriously injured during the summer. Another Belgian, Daymond Martens (KTM), author of the holeshot Akrapovic, was finally deprived of 4th place, disqualified for having refueled on the track in his last lap. This benefits Camille Chapelière (KTM), the first Frenchman of the day, who is ahead of Jérémy Van Horebeek (Honda). This Ronde des Sables will have gathered more than 430 pilots and thousands of spectators under a radiant sun, while the same morning, the track had been largely swallowed by the ocean. It was at the cost of hard work that the organizers of MC des Sables and the officials of the sand commission were able to prepare a course on the beach.
