Greek Motocross Club OFMG hosted this weekend the first round of the European Motocross 65cc and 85cc South Eastern European Zone. Three thousand people gathered today in Giannitsa MX Park to enjoy the thrilling races the MX kid riders in EMX65 and EMX85 were about to perform. 26 riders from 6 different Countries were present despite
the rain, which was coming and going since Saturday morning.
Croatian Nikola Hranic (Husqvarna) was the winner of the day in EMX85, having won both races in front of Greek rider Antonis Sagmalis (KTM) who managed to finish second also in the second race after a great battle with Bulgarian rider Nikolay Malinov (Kawasaki) who had to settle for third as well in both races.
Greek rider Andreas Andreou (Yamaha) did the battle for the second place but finished fourth at both attempts. Hranic starts off the Championship by gathering maximum points to top the standings in front of Sagmalis and Malinov who gain 44 and 40 points respectively.
EMX65 class saw the victory of a new entry rider of the Championship – Croatian Matija Sterpin (KTM) who managed to win both races by a great margin. As well, in both races the runner-up was Bulgarian Viktor Borislavov (KTM). Third place in the first race of EMX65 went to female rider Aida Cojanu of Romania (KTM) who finished in front of Greek Marios Kanakis (KTM).
In the second race the third place was conquered by Greek Michail Sarantinoudis (KTM) who finished just in front of Marios Kanakis (KTM), securing his third overall. Matija Sterpin tops the Championship with maximum points while Viktor Borislavov is close on his tracks (44 points).
The next round of the SE EMX65 and EMX85 will be held in Gevgelija (FYROM) on 16th and 17th April.
