The Wright Engineering National Team Race was put on to encourage the more youthful riders to compete on twenty year old two strokes, to give them opportunity to race some of the bikes from the hey-day of Grand Prix racing in the 90’s and 00’s.
To watch the best riders from the British National and AMCA Championships, some on two-strokes older than they are, will be an awesome spectacle and a really interesting addition to the race schedule at Foxhill over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
One of the main teams to look out for is the JMR101 squad,(in respect to the Jude Morris foundation) managed by one of the sponsors of the event, Dave Garland of Off Road Network UK LTD. Dave is involved day in-day out in the industry and knows his stuff when it comes to picking a team, after all he was victorious in his under-21’s selection for the Couple de L’Aveneir (the under 21’s MXDN) – he knows his stuff.
The team Dave has picked for the 2023 VMXdN Foxhill National Team Race are all racing 2002 Yamaha YZ 250’s and their riders are;
Sam Nunn – Sam has had stellar results in his short career, winning the open class overall at the 2022 Couple De L’Aveneir event. He has won the youth class no less than five times at the Weston Beach race and not to forget he was the 2022 Ultra Evo VMXdN Foxhill overall winner. Sam rides for the CabSreens Yamaha squad full time. You would be brave not to bet on Sam for a shot at a win.
Tom Grimshaw – Tom is racing for the Chambers Moto Loco squad in 2023 and has a huge pedigree showing the bright future our sport currently has. Tom went adult in 2019 after his stunning schoolboy career, and with strong showings at British level he also raced on the world stage at the EMX 250 and MX2 stages. Since then he has continued with his success with Couple de L’Avenier events, second overall at the MX nationals in the MX2 class and third overall in the REVO British championships, and VMXdN Foxhill in the Evo Ultra class. He’s a serious racer and make no bones about it.
Liam Garland – A multiple British youth champion in 85’s and MXY2. Liam has twice represented his country at the Couple De L’Avenir, with multiple top ten finishes in British championships. Liam finished second at the 2022 VMXdN Foxhill in the Evo Ultra class and is one to watch for sure.
