The winter training is over, and the battles will commence this weekend at the opening round of the Judd KTM ACU British Youth Motocross Championship where the best youngsters in the country will kick off their racing season at the spectacular Culham MX Park venue in Oxfordshire.
For 2019 the Judd KTM British Youth Championship is set to be bigger and better than ever. Organisers RHL Activities have been working hard over the winter in a bid to further improve the series to the benefit of its riders, with the main goal of assisting each young-gun’s progress on the pathway to the European and World Motocross Championships.
With major support from KTM and Judd Racing, including aspirational initiatives such as the Judd Orange Brigade, along with the support from teams such as SJP Moto, and Revo Husqvarna the British Youth youngsters will be in the best place for cutting their teeth against the most talented juniors in the country.
For 2019 RHL has partnered 24MX who are offering vouchers to recognise the efforts of riders who are perhaps not on the podium, but making progress throughout the season – which will certainly be motivational for those youngsters improving throughout the year. 24MX has also developed the 24MX Academy to help educate, support and enhance the next generation of British riders, whilst MX Vice will be creating content and coverage of the British Youth Championship races on their media platform.
It’s well-documented that good race starts are incredibly important in racing, and are critical for success. With that in mind the SCOTT Sports Holeshot Championship is in place for all registered riders in all classes. With BMX bikes on offer for the top three riders in the championship, it’s a great way to encourage riders to work on their starts for consistency throughout the season, and we look forward to seeing those who have worked on their starts during the winter.
There are RHL Activities Social Media Awards on offer for riders signed up to the championship, again to assist and encourage the off-bike development of youngsters – something RHL is passionate about, as this will assist in sponsorship acquisition and the important media communication in the future. RHL has been behind the scenes developing the series, and is looking forward to continuing that development process with its riders during the year.

Our goal is to give them targets to aspire to, whilst helping deliver education in areas they can grow if they wish to work in motocross as a profession in the future. Not only that, we continue to work hard on the racing side – our goal is to create the next British World Champion, and we need to ensure that from a young age our riders are racing in a variety of conditions with the right support to achieve that. The undulating Culham circuit awaits and the best riders in the UK are making their final preparations for round one of six; the excitement is certainly building. With classes for Autos, 65cc, 85cc big wheel and small wheel, 125cc and Open riders, it’s expected to be another bar banging, fun filled season with new talent emerging. The ACU British Rookie Championship is also in place within the Judd KTM British Youth Championship for riders entering a class for the first time, and recognises their efforts during their first year in a category.
