JWR Honda is thrilled to announce the return of Cornelius Tøndel to the JWR Racing/24MX Team for the 2025 season. Words: JWR Honda

After a phenomenal 2024 campaign, where Cornelius displayed his talent and determination by securing podium finishes, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him back to the family.

The connection between a Swedish team and a Norwegian rider highlights the strong Scandinavian spirit that defines JWR Racing/24MX. This marks Cornelius’s third stint with us, and as the saying goes, “Third time’s the charm”. His resilience, talent, and drive to succeed make him an invaluable part of our ambitious plans for the upcoming season.

A Focus on MXGP and Exciting US Expansion

JWR Honda will remain focused on the MXGP World Championship, aiming to build on the momentum of Cornelius’s outstanding performances last season. In addition, we’re breaking new ground with an exciting expansion into the United States, where Cornelius will compete in three AMA Pro Motocross Nationals. This opportunity reflects our dedication to broadening our reach and showcasing the versatility of our riders.

We’re also proud to announce our EMX250 line-up, led by promising Swedish talent Hugo Forsgren, who will also represent Honda Sweden in the Swedish Championship.

Voices from the Team

Johan Westermark, Team Owner: “We are delighted to welcome Cornelius back to the JWR family. His incredible season last year demonstrated his growth as a rider, and we’re confident that together, we can achieve even greater success on the world stage and beyond. Cornelius has the drive to set the fastest lap times and never gives up – a mentality that inspires the entire team.”

Cornelius Tøndel: “I’ve always felt at home with JWR Honda, and I’m eager to get back to work with the team. After my great 2024 season, I knew I needed a team that’s fully behind me to help me reach the next level. I’m excited to push boundaries in MXGP and take on the new challenges in the U.S. together with Johan, Patrik, and the incredible new Honda CRF450, which is a perfect match for me.”

Patrik Erlandsson, Marketing Coordinator: “We’re very happy to have Cornelius back—a fighter and a great guy. We’ll be based in Padova, Italy, for 2025, collaborating again with Honda Martin. The new CRF450 has immense potential, and with support from Davide Rinaldi and 24MX, we’re ready to tackle the challenges of the MXGP season. I want to extend my gratitude to our loyal sponsors, who continue to make our journey possible and will support us again in 2025.”
