Drew Anderson won the 2018 ACU Judd KTM British 125cc Championship after an outstanding season of racing across the UK. At the end of the 2019 season Drew made the move up to a 250cc and signed up for the British Open Championship on-board the Judd Orange Brigade Team.
Drew has had a positive start to the 2019 season at Culham and Whitby. He currently sits third in the Championship ahead of Fatcats.
We caught up with Drew to see how his season is going, to discuss Fatcats and more.
RHL: How has the season gone so far for you?
Drew Anderson: “This season started very rough for me. I haven’t been at half the pace I should be. I have struggled mentally but Ash and me are working hard to change that around. I am getting better and more confident each round.”
RHL: Whitby hosted the second round of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship and was a new venue to the calendar. How was it for you?
Drew Anderson: “Whitby was good for me, solid finished and the track worked really well even with the bad weather. I really enjoyed it there.”
RHL: We head to Fatcat Moto Parc in Doncaster for the third round of the 2019 season. What are your thoughts on the track? Plus what your plans are and goal for the weekend?
Drew Anderson: “I like Fatcats. I would like to show my real potential and finally get the speed I know I can. As long as I can do that ill be overall more than happy.”
RHL: Going into the next round your 3rd in the British Open Championship with 446 points and 3 points off second place rider Max Ingham. How does it feel being 3rd currently in the Official British Open Championship?
Drew Anderson: “It feels good to be in third but it’s not quite what I want. If I put it together I am sure I can hunt down that win if not second place.”
RHL: Can you tell us a bit about what you do between meetings. Do you get much time on the bike practicing and training?
Drew Anderson: “In between meetings I just practice and go to the gym. I do a lot of jogging and mental training as well.”
RHL: Finally what would you say to upcoming riders into the British Youth Championship?
Drew Anderson: “I’d say just never give up, even when times get rough. You got to go backwards before you go forwards.”
