After an overwhelming demand for the opening event at Kayo Stadium – which is days away from being a complete sell out – a second day of racing and now ‘round two’ of the series has been unlocked in a huge win for Queensland fans.
The newly announced Sunday twilight round at Kayo Stadium will double down on the action with a revised track updated overnight to deliver another round of intense racing along with all the fun fans expect including a pit party, music and entertainment creating the ultimate supercross weekend.
Championship Director, Kelly Bailey said she is not surprised with the response from fans given the hype leading into the on-sale.
“To be close to a complete sell out only two weeks after going on sale is an incredible result,” said Bailey.
“We flagged the potential for another round and the demand from fans – people voting with their feet – has unlocked the additional Sunday round which will be a twilight, family friendly race schedule.
“The way we’ve scheduled it provides the opportunity for fans to extend their weekend in the City of Moreton Bay – our track and operations team will work overnight to deliver a revised track from the Saturday for the Sunday round, and with more championship points on the line, they’ll get double the action with these back-to-back rounds.
“A huge thank you to the fans for supporting the event – supercross is well and truly alive in Queensland, along with our event partners the City of Moreton Bay and Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism for their behind-the-scenes promotional support to make this a reality.”
Motorcycling Australia’s CEO, Peter Doyle, confirmed the extension of the Australian series to five championship rounds and noted the strong position Australian Supercross is in.
“The build-up to the 2024 Fox Australian Supercross Championship has been tremendously exciting, and the addition of a second round at Kayo Stadium is a case-in-point,” said Doyle.
