We at Live Motocross were lucky enough to review the new Fox instinct boots and we weren’t disappointed with the product. Fox has been and continues to be one of the best brands in motocross producing high quality race-wear that is at the cutting edge of technology and their new evolution of the Fox instinct boot is no exception!

The Instinct line is the premier boot in the Fox range and has been one of the best selling boots on the market for years now. The 2023 boot has been revamped from the original boot that was released 10 years ago. The Features include:

Likes

As soon as I stepped into the boot I was pleased with the comfort and secure fit it provided. I felt the overall product was slim and lightweight yet provided me with confidence that the boot would do its job in protecting the ankle and foot whilst riding. I have been used to riding with an inner boot for the past few years but found the feeling of not having an inner boot with this product refreshing and quite comfortable. I found the sole of this boot quite thick which gave me good solid contact with the pegs and an overall secure stance on the bike, the rubber compound also felt super tacky and really planted on the pegs, allowing me to find that sweet spot time and time again. I was however worried that the sole being as thick as it is would hinder me whilst shifting but was pleasantly surprised by the movement in the boot and how nice they were to change gear in.

Dislikes

There weren’t many dislikes from my side as you can imagine with product of such high calibre, however no product is perfect. Although I liked the buckles for their simplistic and easy to use design I did have a buckle come undone in one of my motos, as avid riders know this does happen, however I felt this came undone a little too easily mid session. I also found the boot flexed a little too much for my liking, even though this is great from a movement stand point and makes it easier to shift, I like to have a bit of a stiffer boot.

Summary

Overall I think this is a quality product and remains one of the leading boots on the market. Aesthetically, I think nobody can argue Fox boots look awesome and with the wide range of colour-ways to choose from there’s something for everyone’s taste.

It’s also worth noting that the toe box felt slightly more ‘roomy’ than the previous instinct boots, this was actually welcomed, but may result in some riders wanting to downsize one size to get a comparable fit to the older Instinct boots.

I think the boot is affordable and comes in cheaper than a few of the other big brands so you really can’t go wrong. With the wide range of tech, new design features and affordable price range, I would recommend this boot to anyone and i expect it to be a winner for all motocross riders, from weekend warriors to the pros.
