The EMX300 series continues through 2016 with success for Yamaha, most recently at Matterley Basin where British privateers at GL12 Racing claimed two steps on the final podium for the home fans and took more valuable championship points midway through the 7-race series.

Brad Anderson won the overall with a victory in the first moto and a second in race two, while teammate Lewis Gregory qualified fastest and went on to take third overall following a second and third in the motos. Changing weather conditions made for tough race conditions as sporadic rain showers temporarily darkened the hard-pack dirt on the long and challenging Matterley Basin circuit.

“The crowd was awesome, and it’s so good to be on the top step at my home GP,” said a jubilant Anderson after the final podium on Sunday. “Thanks to everybody who came over the fence to cheer me on, and the great first and third result for GL12 Yamaha.”

GL 12 Racing Team Manager Bob Buchanan said Sunday’s achievement at Matterley Basin came on the back of an equally positive weekend for results at Talavera, Spain.

“For me to stand on the podium at my home GP is a lifetime’s ambition. We narrowly missed it last time we were here,” Buchanan said. “Ando was top at Talavera as well, and for everyone at GL 12 Racing, the riders, mechanics, tuners, sponsors, family and friends; for all the little things they do along the way, they all played a part in this great achievement for our small, privateer team,” Buchanan said.

Anderson now sits in fourth overall in the 2016 EMX300 Championship standings, 23 points shy of a podium with three races left in the series. Lewis sits slightly further back in sixth, 22 points out of a top five finish.
