With the championships coming down to the wire, there was definitely a heightened sense of tension at the GEICO Motorcycle Budds Creek National. The penultimate round of the season traditionally produces some of the most unpredictable racing and surprising outcomes of the season, and while Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac was dominant en route to his fifth win of the season and the clinching of a third consecutive 450 Class title, it was the performance by Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s Shane McElrath that left onlookers in awe.
