The Dirt Store ACU British Motocross Championship and Fastest 40 are joining forces for what looms as a pulsating joint-round at Hawkstone Park this weekend.
Top of the bill for many will be the exhilarating fight for supremacy between Jeffrey Herlings and Conrad Mewse in MX1.
With Herlings fresh off a scintillating MXGP masterclass at Lommel, where he went 1-1 and negotiated the brutally deep sand track with aplomb, the Dutchman enters the event with momentum on his side.
For Mewse, who also raced the aforementioned MXGP in Belgium, he’ll extract the positives from a round where he notably was third fastest in time practice and claimed eighth in the qualifying race.
The lively crowd should be in for a treat witnessing this eye-catching battle at the top, for neither will give an inch in their quest for glory.
Gabriel SS24 KTM’s Josh Gilbert will be eager to put his best foot forward too, as the MXGP ace aims to return to a level resembling his best following a difficult season due to injury.
Tristan Purdon of the SC Sporthomes Husqvarna team is another rider that’ll be right up for the challenge. Having raced Stateside in the AMA Pro Motocross series and in MXGP, the South African comes in ready to rumble.
The same applies to Brad Todd, who banked fourth at the previous stop on the calendar and clinched his first race win of the season on his way to second overall at the Scottish Championships.
The likes of Apico Honda pair Martin Barr and Tom Grimshaw, Carlton Husband, Jason Meara, Dan Thornhill and Shaun Southgate will also be keen to stamp their mark as well in the premier class.
Upon switching the focus to MX2, and the tussle between Jack Chambers and Cas Valk will be a huge drawcard. Red plate holder Chambers ventures to Hawkstone after a weekend off to recover from a nasty crash in MX2 at Loket, so expect him to come out swinging.
In the case of Valk, the Dutch speedster’s confidence will be high given he secured a brilliant second overall in EMX250 at Lommel.
All this should combine to ensure a fascinating battle for victory at the iconic venue between these ultra-fast pilots.
Dirt Store Kawasaki heavy hitters Tommy Searle and Joel Rizzi are sure to test the above duo with their blend of speed and technique. Seeing as Rizzi raced EMX250 at Lommel and put in a strong effort, watch for him to rise to the occasion and duke it out at the head of the pack.
Other big names such as Dylan Walsh, Elliott Banks-Browne and Jake Nicholls, plus riders such as Taylor Hammal, Ollie Colmer, Alfie Jones, Charlie Cole, Steven Clarke and Joe Brookes duly add to what a spectacle this stacked category will be.
The entertainment will extend to the 125cc/250cc, Pro MX1, Pro MX2 divisions and more in what will be an adrenalin-pumping weekend of racing.
With the title fights starting to form and intensify across the classes, there’s every reason to suggest there’ll be fireworks aplenty at Hawkstone.
