Following an outstanding weekend at Lyng for the second round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship, we saw a change in the MXY2 Youth top spot. After a difficult weekend for Lewis Hall, former British Youth Nationals rider Keenan Hird walked away with the overall win and also the Maxxis MXY2 red plate.
We caught up with Keenan to see how the weekend went for him.
Lyng looked like a fantastic day, how did things go for you?
“I went 2,1 for the overall for the second round, and this saw me take the championship lead, which is perfect!”
Looking to the third round at Canada Heights on 30th April, what are your plans?
“I would like to keep the lead now and hopefully be on the podium every round for the rest of the season.”
How does it feel taking the red plate home?
“It feels great, I’m very happy now that I have taken my first ever Maxxis British Championship win and I want plenty more!”
What’s your plan between now and the next rounds, are you going to be practicing or competing in any other British national events to keep the pace up?
“I will just hit some sand tracks to practice. I will also be racing the MX Nationals, which is back at Lyng. We are heading away on a family holiday to have a break so I won’t have any bike time, but I will be keeping on top of my fitness with running and some other things to keep my fitness up for Canada Heights.”
Finally, what are your plans for the rest of the season?
“I want to podium every round and win the Championship, it will be tough but I am ready for it!”
If you want to see if Keenan can keep the Championship and see the rest of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship riders, then head to Canada Heights (Postcode: BR8 8DX) on 30th April. For further information head to www.mxgb.co.uk
