American motocross’ annual visit to the Land of 10,000 Lakes will signify the halfway point of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, as Minnesota’s famed Spring Creek MX Parkis set to host the sixth stop on the summer calendar. Fittingly, this critical juncture of the championship will bring the world’s most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing series into millions of homes as the Circle K Spring Creek National, presented by Frescados Tortillas, also serves as the season premiere on NBC broadcast network, featuring a live showcase of the second and deciding 450 Class moto. As a result, racing at Spring Creek will commence one hour earlier, beginning at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.
Despite being in just his first season of 450 Class competition, Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis has been the dominant force of the premier division. The Frenchman has captured the overall win in four of the first five races this summer and brings an impressive three-race winning streak into Spring Creek, where he emerged triumphant in the 250 Class last season en route to that division crown.
In the ongoing battle to fill Ferrandis’ title vacancy in the 250 Class, things are tightening up atop the standings between Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence and Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing’s Justin Cooper. Lawrence, the young Australian, has paced the standings since he emerged triumphant at the season-opening round, but Cooper has continued to chip away at the deficit and now sits just three points out of the lead entering Spring Creek. Additionally, a historic level of parity in the division has headlined the first half, with five different winners through the first five rounds for the first time in history, which dates back to 1974. The attention will certainly focus on whether or not a sixth different winner can prevail at Spring Creek.
In the United States, coverage of the opening motos of both the 450 Class and 250 Class from Spring Creek will air live on MAVTV Motorsports Network, followed by the second 450 moto live coverage on NBC and tape-delayed second 250 moto coverage on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN).
