Following an excellent fifth in the first moto at the MXGP of Germany, Pauls Jonass, who has been in fine form in MXGP this term and won in Portugal, devastatingly dislocated his shoulder and fractured his arm in the second moto.
“After a hard fought P5 in race one, Pauls Jonass unfortunately got involved in a start crash in race two, causing a dislocated shoulder and fracture of the upper arm. Pauls is getting surgery this evening. Thanks for the support,” a team statement read.
The injury comes at an especially terrible time, as he’d gathered some superb momentum this campaign, was fifth in the standings and was well and truly holding his own with the frontrunners in the stacked elite class. The Latvian star will now have surgery and begin his recovery to get back as soon as possible.
More to follow. We wish him all the best.
