Valentin Guillod confirmed on social media that he broke his collarbone during a brutal crash at the MXGP of Switzerland in Frauenfeld. After showing impressive speed on home soil – finishing eighth in the qualifying race and 11th in the opening moto – the incident occurred while he was battling Romain Febvre for fifth place.
Guillod has since undergone surgery, and the privateer hero’s aiming to return to racing in about a month, with him hoping to be back on the gate at the French GP.
“I’m sad, this wasn’t part of the plan! I gave my best and put all my energy into this project. The surgery went well last Wednesday. They removed the old plate and put a new one longer on my right collarbone. I will miss the two rounds. Plan to be back racing on Saturday the 24th of May. I’m already back on my bicycle and will be back on my bike around the 10th of May. Thanks for your support and all your messages,” he posted.
