RHL Activities is pleased to announce that KTM Enduro Factory Racing extreme enduro star Jonny Walker is eager to improve on his debut performance at the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race last year, and has entered again for the event on October 13-15 2017.

As one of the best offroad motorcycle athletes in the world, known for winning some of the toughest battles including the Erzberg Red Bull Hare Scramble, Red Bull Romaniacs, Hell’s Gate, The Tough One, Red Bull 111 Megawatt and many others, Walker is no stranger to most difficult endurance races for both man and machine.

Last year the 26-year-old Cumbrian racer came to compete at the Weston-Super-Mare event without any prior testing and finished in an impressive sixth place, despite pitting five times for fuel during the three-hour solo race and crashing on lap two while taking on the tough sand dunes. This year Walker has vowed to up his game and is looking to capitalise on his experience at this ultra-special event with his eyes set on at least a podium finish and is looking forward to competing at a ‘home’ event.

A former British youth trials champion who is looking forward to capturing the form that saw him dominate the 2015 hard enduro scene prior to breaking his leg last year, Walker’s outdoor hard enduro season has recently begun at the Erzberg Rodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble where he scored a fifth place finish. The KTM-ace will be looking for a strong season and is especially excited to take on the grueling HydroGarden Weston Beach Race in October, having enjoyed the atmosphere, thrills and spills of this special race, which is known for offering the opportunity for amateur racers to take on the pros.

Jonny Walker: Red Bull KTM Factory Enduro rider
“I really enjoyed the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race last year; I had no idea what to expect but what a mega event – I pretty much signed up straight away to come back again. It’s a specialist race and without experience it’s not easy to prepare for, so at least this year I know more of what to expect, a little bit about the strategy and we can be more prepared with the bike. The atmosphere is incredible, and racing against the British fans at a home race is very special for me. I was happy with the result last year and definitely learned a lot, which will be really useful going into this year’s event. It’s good to be back racing outdoors, and it will be really great to get back to Weston in October.”

Gareth Hockey: Director of RHL Activities
“It was fantastic having Jonny at the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race last year, and his skills on a bike are certainly outstanding. But also, one of the things that’s very important to us, is engaging with the fans and enjoying the atmosphere of Weston throughout the event weekend. Jonny’s pedigree has seen him win some of the most challenging races in the world, so it’s fitting to have him at one of the toughest events in the UK. It’s a rare opportunity to see him race in the UK, and it will be interesting to see what he can do now he’s had some experience racing the event before.”
