Harri Kullas kicked off the defence of his MX Nationals British Championship crown this weekend, in the deep sand of FatCat Moto Parc in South Yorkshire.

With some glorious spring weather, Harri went out in qualifying and was 7thfastest in MX1. He got a good start in 4th, before making his way past Tommy Searle and then moved to 2ndon lap 6, but by this time the leader, Josh Gilbert had got away and Harri rode to a comfortable 2ndplace.

In race two, Harri gated better, in second place, and looked to hang onto the back of race leader, Gilbert, on the gruelling track. However, it wasn’t to be, as Gilbert edged away, leaving Harri in a comfortable 2ndplace, once again in front of Shaun Simpson.

Harri Kullas “It is nice to start the championship with a podium. I didn’t qualify great, but still got pretty good starts. First race started 4th, then moved quickly to 3rdand took a few more laps to get 2ndwhich is where I finished. I got bad armpump after I took 2nd,so I focussed on holding my position as Gilbert had gone. Second start was even better and I was 2nd behind Gilbert –I tried to go with him, but he was really fast today and I took 2nd again. 2-2 is good, but I was not completely happy with my riding. I gave it my all and at least we got a podium this time.”

Sam Nunn kicked off his MX Nationals Pro MX2 campaign this weekend at FatCat Moto Parc in Yorkshire.

In race one, Sam was struggling to find a flow in the deep sand track, and after some early mistakes and being around 15thin MX2, Sam made some great progress through the field, clicking off passes, before finally moving to 9thplace at the finish, with another pass only two corners from the flag.

Race two was similar for Sam, but this time he spent most of the race in 9thplace, before another really strong finish saw him pass three riders on the last three laps, for 6th place, and a great 7th overall.

Sam Nunn “Tough day today but still lots of positives to take away. Struggled with the track all day long but happy with the second race in particular, finishing 6th. Few things to work on before the next MXN round at Landrake, but already looking forward to it, as it’s a track I really like”
