Two weeks ago, Liam competed in the first race of the Spanish championship. After more then six months of race inactivity due to his wrist injury, it was a bit unclear what to expect. However, the return to racing went pretty smoothly for the 72. In an field stacked with fast local Spaniards, Liam rode a good first heat finishing in sixth. At the start of the second heat, Liam took the holeshot! For a while the Foodmaker KTM rider was in the hunt for a top three place, but getting into lappers made him lose his rhythm what resulted in finishing fifth. These two results in the heats combined made him sixth in the overall day results.
To build on this, Liam raced past weekend in Mantova the third round of the International Italian Championship. After a bad qualification result in thirty-second place and matching gate pick, Liam still took a decent start from way outside. Passing through in seventeenth after one lap. Finding a fast and steady rhythm on this rough track resulted in picking up riders one by one. At one moment the top ten was even in reach but at the end of the race a twelfth place was what he got. In the “Superfinal” where the best 450 riders and 250 riders of the day battle with each other, Liam started around the eighteenth place and rode the whole race continuously around that place to finish eventually in eighteenth position.
