There could be triple headers and even a round in the sand in Riola Sardo for the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship.
Currently the 2021 season is set to get underway on May 23rd in The Netherlands however at this moment in time it sounds like this may not be the start of the season with the need of spectators hanging in the balance with the current pandemic situation in the country.
We now await any changes to the calendar from Infront Moto Racing with no confirmation of when this will happen or even if this will happen but we assured Live Motocross will bring you the latest as soon as we know it.
Giuseppe Luongo spoke with Motocross.it about the 2021 season below:
“The season will start in the Netherlands, in Oss, but we are negotiating with Riola Sardo for a Grand Prix there, I don’t know yet if at the beginning or at the end of the championship.”
“Our goal this year is to compete with the public, if we succeed, there will be only one date for each track, then if the situation with the virus continues to be serious it is clear that we will have to think of other solutions, and perhaps also at the three events per circuit. But we will do everything to run with the public because without it, for the second consecutive year, it would be a catastrophe ”.
“Realistically no, the calendar is the one published, then it is clear that according to the development of vaccines and the reopening country by country there may be some adjustments. However, we have luxury waiting lists like England and some places in Italy and the Netherlands. We will have to do everything possible to race with the public, Motocross is a sport that lives thanks to the fans and cannot continue without them, we have enormous hopes in the vaccine and in reopening for the summer” .
