Round 12 of the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship heads to Indianapolis, Indiana this Saturday, while Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing team riders Cooper Webb and Justin Barcia continue to work through challenges from injuries.
After making the tough decision to withdraw from the St. Louis round last Saturday while nursing an injured shoulder, Webb spent the week focusing on rehabilitation and physical training. Webb and the Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing Team are continuing to maintain a positive attitude, and hope to be ready for action in Indianapolis this weekend.
Justin Barcia, who suffered a broken hand at the Arlington Supercross round in February, returned to riding his YZ450F this week. Since his surgery following that injury, Barcia has been focused on rehabbing his hand and physical training to maintain his fitness levels. With a week of light outdoor riding behind him, Barcia and the team are targeting the Seattle round on April 7 for his return to Supercross racing.
Cooper Webb, 450 SX #2 – Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing Team Rider
“I’m doing all I can to be ready for Indianapolis. Unfortunately, I had a crash right before St. Louis which injured my shoulder a little bit. I tried riding this past weekend but it was a bit weak and we decided not to risk any further damage. I’ve been going to PT this week and keeping up my cardio on the bicycle to stay ready. I hope to see everyone this weekend in Indy!”
Justin Barcia, 450 SX #51 – Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing Team Rider
“This is my first week back on my Yamaha and things are progressing well for me. My hand is pretty weak and sore, but I’m just happy to be back on the bike and rebuilding the strength in my hand. I can’t wait to be back at the races!”
