The annual MXGP Organizers meeting took place this past weekend at Andorra’s ‘Centre de Congressos’. The Event invites all of the Organizers of the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship season’s rounds to come together and prepare for the upcoming year of racing.
Youthstream’s Director of Communications and Marketing Services, Marionna Leiva, opened the annual event with an introduction of those present, which included Youthstream President Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream Vice President Mr. Luigi Zompetti, Youthstream Directors Mr. Nikos Gournaris, Mr. Daniele Rizzi and Mr Didier Henriod, as well as representatives of the FIM, Race Director Mr. Ingo Partsch, Director of the International Medical Commission, FIM Medical Director David McManus, and the organizers of the 2018 MXGP rounds of Indonesia, Russia, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Imola, Latvia, Turkey and Switzerland, in addition to the Organizers of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations which will take place in Red Bud, USA.
The meeting was started by presenting all of Youthstream’s Departments to the Organizers and the main aspects for 2018. Following the introduction and key points, presentation of the new venues for 2018 took to the stage: starting with the MX Junior World Championship held in Hoshram, Australia, then the MXGP stops of Red Sand, Spain, Afyon, Turkey, Semarang, Indonesia, Imola, Italy and finally the 2018 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Red Bud, USA.
Youthstream President Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, took to the stage, welcomed everyone, and expressed his gratitude for the work and cooperation done so far, saying: “I have to say a big thank you, because if motocross is growing, it is thanks to the work that we have done together, we as the organizers and the promoters are the base of the world championship, our work is to prepare a very big stage and make it perfect so that the riders and the teams can perform.” Mr. Luongo continued speaking on the growth of the World Championship in all of its aspects and stressed the importance of staying true to tradition but also welcome the possibility of new venues in new countries. It was also emphasized that a well designed and prepared track is key to a successful event along with the cooperation between Youthstream and the local organizers.
FIM Europe President Dr. Wolfgang Srb and Member of the FIM Board of Directors Jos Driessentook time to visit the meeting as well where they welcomed all those in attendance and wished good luck to all the organizers on their races to be held in the upcoming season.
Before the conclusion of the meeting, the Organizer of the MXGP of Russia took the microphone to say that a replica of the Cairoli bike is now at the State Sport Museum in Moscow donated by Youthstream, using the occasion to thank Youthstream. Concluding the Organizers meeting was a Presentation from Platinum Group, MXGP ticketing partner, as well as the official display of the 2018 Video Teaser.
The entire event was held the evening prior to the Annual FIM Awards where the 2017 Champions received their FIM Medal. The FIM also organized a signing session featuring all the World champions of 2017, including Antonio Cairoli, Pauls Jonass, Gianluca Facchetti, Kiara Fontanesi and Eddie Jay Wade among the others.
With the meeting concluded and the organizers informed and well prepared, the 2018 season is officially open!
