Following an address by the Prime Minister on Sunday 10th May, the Auto-Cycle Union has released a joint statement with the AMCA in which a potential phased return of motorcycle sport from the 4th July is outlined. As the ACU statement explains, it may be possible for small, well managed events to resume after the 4th July, however, all national championships, including the MXGB Championship, will not be permitted until the following two main criteria have been met.

  • The Government deem that the whole of the UK has moved into Level 2 of the guideline
  • That the travel restrictions imposed by the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Ireland Governments have been lifted.

The ACU Directors and sporting committees will continue to closely monitor the situation, but in the meantime the announcement means that unfortunately the MXGB rounds scheduled for 21st June and 12th July respectively will not now take place as planned.

Whilst we all want to return to racing as soon as possible, our overriding concern during this pandemic is for the continued safety and well-being of everyone involved in organising, participating and attending MXGB events.

Further updates will be issued in due course.
