RHL Activities is pleased to announce that it has partnered with RPG Racing as sponsors of the quad races for the 2017 HydroGarden Weston Beach Race, which takes place on October 13-15 in Weston-Super-Mare.

Ryan Griffin, who is a Yamaha franchised dealer and runs his own race tuning and preparation business, is the founder of the RPG Racing team, and is looking forward to working with RHL Activities for the highlight event on the quad racing calendar. The RPG Racing team consists of multi-time British Champion Paul Winrow, Stefan Murphy, Callum Bates and satellite rider George Lent. Griffin has a long affinity with the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race, as his father competed in the early events and he has also raced on the Weston-Super-Mare dune course with a best result of third position. The tuning expert is pleased to be giving something back to the grass roots of the sport with this new partnership.
In 2016 the RPG Racing team took a HydroGarden Weston Beach Race victory with rider Stefan Murphy after a hard battle for the intense and challenging three-hours. Following the disappointment of being forced to retire in the year previous, the RPG Yamaha racer rode tactically to take the lead on his fifth lap and although he competed with a bent bike in the closing stages of the race, he went on to take his debut win on the Weston-Super-Mare course. Murphy will once again line up as this year’s RPG Yamaha Racing competitor.

Ryan Griffin, RPG Racing commented: “RPG Racing is supporting this year’s Quad class because we like to give back to the sport, whether it be at club level or a high-profile event like the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race. I see it as helping the sport that we all have a deep passion for; we can’t all explain why we do it, or keep coming back week in week out only to torture our mind and bodies, but we do and it gets in your blood. People on the outside will never understand.”
“I have a long history with the event as I competed in the races back when I was in my youth with a best result of third and my father competed in it in the early days when all the bikes were out together. Back then there were quads, sidecars and solos tearing down the beach. This year we have Stefan Murphy once again tackling the beach course. Our goal was to provide a great bike last year, and we wanted Stefan to really enjoy himself without any pressure, but it was great he could bring us the win. Stefan had shown potential the past few times he’s entered the race, and 2016 was the year. 2017 is no different, no added pressure, we are coming to the event with the same attitude, enjoy the race and do what we all love to do on a weekend.”

Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities commented: “Having RPG Racing backing the quad classes for this year’s HydroGarden Weston Beach Race is an honour. RPG Racing has competed at Weston for many years and this year having them additionally as the class sponsors of the quad races is fantastic. I look forward to working with Ryan Griffin this year and hopefully for many more to come.”
