So we travelled to Cornwall for the MX Nationals British Championship with Harri Kullas lying 3rd in the Pro MX1 standings, albeit only one point behind the series leader. Dan Thornhill had a really good round one and came into Landrake lying 10th in the Pro MX1 standings. Our youth rider, Joe Brookes was lying 9th in the MXY1 series after an up and down first round.

Dan Thornhill

MXY1

Joe qualified really well in 2nd place and then after running as high as 2nd in his class in race one, he crashed and was unable to finish. A good start in race two and some early passes moved Joe into 2nd place once again and he edge away from the pack to finish in the same place for a great result. In race three on Sunday, Joe kept his from going with another storming 2nd place and backed this up with the same place in race 4.

Overall Joe was 5th in MXY1 on the day and now moved up to 4th in the championship.

Harri Kullas

Pro MX1

Race One – Harri qualified 5th fastest in MX1 with Dan 17th. The start of race one saw Harri narrowly miss out on the holeshot on his Honda CRF450R, as Dylan Walsh slotted into the lead early on, before Harri went past on lap six, closely followed by Tommy Searle. Dan was around 12th early on in the MX1 class and was putting in a strong ride in the very tough field, to finish an eventual 13th. Harri kept Tommy a few seconds back for the whole race and despite a late charge from Searle, Harri took the chequered flag much to the delight of him and the team.

Race Two – Another great start from Harri on his Honda CRF450R into second position around the first corner, behind fellow Honda rider, Tommy Searle. Dan started around mid pack and had his work cut out on the technical, rough track. Harri kept Tommy Searle in his sights until disaster struck on lap 3, when a bike issue forced Harri to retire. Dan kept pushing hard for another 13th place.

Dan placed 15th overall and is now 12th in the Pro MX1 Championship. Harri remains third in the championship.
