Before the stars of the 450 Class and 250 Class contested their motos at Fox Raceway, the thousands of fans in attendance were treated to an awesome battle for the win in the 125cc All Star Series. The second race of the season saw Villopoto move out to the early lead aboard his Yamaha, but 17-year-old Josh Varize never allowed him to get away. The Southern California teenager was persistent on his KTM and ultimately made a pass for the lead on the five-time Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion to take an impressive underdog victory in front of the hometown crowd.
Villopoto was forced to settle for second, giving him first and second-place results at the first two rounds of the 125cc All Star Series, while Andrew Hertzler rounded out the podium in third aboard a Yamaha.
