Between motos at the Motosport.com Washougal National, the large turnout of Pacific Northwest fans were treated to a 2-stroke showcase during the 125cc All Star Series. The afternoon brought perfect weather for racing, which included a star-studded field of more than 40 2-strokes buzzing around the historic Washougal MX Park.
As the gate dropped on the start of the moto, it was none other than Washington’s very own Ryan Villopoto who emerged from the first turn with the holeshot. The multi-time Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion never looked back as he blitzed his way around the hilly circuit to take the win on his Yamaha YZ125. Villopoto previously won the 125 All Star Series season opener at Hangtown and has now won two out of three races entered this season.
Behind Villopoto, former professional racers and fellow local Washington-natives Chris Johnson and Tevin Tapia duked it out for the final podium positions. As the checkered flag waved it was Johnson who came out on top to take runner-up on his KTM 125 SX, edging out Tapia in third on a Yamaha YZ125.
