RHL Activities are ecstatic to announce that the Weston Beach Race has been selected as a finalist for the 2019 Weston Business Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism.
The Weston Beach Race, which is the UK’s maddest, baddest and biggest motorsport event, has been recognised by Weston Chamber for the 2019 Weston Business Awards by being shortlisted for the award of ‘Outstanding Contribution to Tourism’ The awards night will take place on Friday February 1st at the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare where representatives from RHL Activities, the promoters of the Weston Beach Race, will be in attendance for the announcement of the winners of the award that is sponsored by Albert Goodman.
It is well-documented that the Weston Beach Race, which is now in its 37th year, provides a huge benefit to the local economy, as well as the positive environmental factors to the health of the beach, which tourists can enjoy all year round. With over 70,000 annual spectators of the race heading to Weston-Super-Mare in what normally would be the ‘off season’ for the town, the event, which is growing in size and has a strong collaboration with the local council, has an important role to play on the area’s calendar. RHL Activities are incredibly proud that the event has been shortlisted as a finalist and the recognition it has received from the Weston Chamber.
Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities commented “We are over the moon that we have been shortlisted as finalists for the 2019 Weston Business Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism with the Weston Beach Race. It’s great to see the event getting the recognition it deserves. The event brings a lot into the town of Weston-super-Mare each year with the vast amount of visitors that come to the race. We look forward to attending the awards night in February, and we are proud that our efforts have been noted by being included as a finalist.”
