Its safe to say there is more and more opportunities popping up for women to learn how to enhance there skills at the moment.. And we love it! Check out WRC’s Blog below from 250 London’s founder Jennifer Johnson about their day out at the Lee Dunham Facility.
When we launched the WRC last year, we quietly hoped to eventually organise an event or two. Nothing big or crazy – we’re only a small team at 250LONDON after all – but we did think it would be awesome to get some girls together to bring our “virtual” Women Riders Club out into the “real world”. I got my first ever Dirt Bike in November last year and, well, as an absolute beginner myself, figured other MX rookies might fancy an MX Experience Day too, so I ever so selfishly set about organising one! Enter Lee Dunham with his fabulous facility and fleet of Kawasaki dirt bikes…
It was a couple of months in the planning and then a few months on the back burner, thanks to Covid 19, but on the 25th of July we finally had our day! The WRC x LDR MX Experience Day was a good one. 15 excited women (myself included) gathered at Lee Dunham’s 5* Training Facility near Bristol for a day of MX tuition – for both beginners and novices to MX – and we all had a blast!
The day started with registration, a coffee, a catch up and an introduction from myself and Lee.
So, split into 3 groups, with Group 1 being the most experienced of the lot, Lee took the first lot of girls to meet their bikes, get some coaching to get them started and this was repeated over the next couple of hours, until all the groups were set off safely out onto the track to get some laps. After a good 2-3 hours of track time, we all took a break for lunch and to catch our breath! Lee took the opportunity to brief the girls on the afternoon session and give us all some more tips and techniques to take back out with us…
And there you have it, our very first MX event done and dusted! We’re really happy it went so well and delighted that so many great girls signed up to join us. We’ll get another one in the diary soon so be sure to sign up to our newsletter (link at the top) to keep in the loop and follow The WRC on Instagram HERE too. Many thanks again to Lee and special thanks also to our awesome Photographer Gareth Daley for all the photos (all 2.5K of them!) you made us look really good!!
Oh and if you’d like some one to one coaching or group coaching with Lee, you can get in touch via his website HERE! Sense of humour included for free. 🙂
Thanks for reading!
