The very best motocross riders in the UK both juniors and professionals are preparing for the final round of their championships in Landrake, Cornwall this weekend for the action-packed Battle of the MX British Titles. A landmark event at which the Judd KTM ACU British Youth Championship and the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship will conclude their seasons at the same venue on the same weekend, the Landrake spectacle is not to be missed as riders fight for a place in motocross history.

With both the MX1 and MX2 categories undecided heading to the undulating hardpack Cornish circuit, the British Championship-aces will be hunting for glory to bring 2019 to a close in a positive way. In the MX1 category, after a season-long battle in which they’ve exchanged blows race by race, Tommy Searle and Shaun Simpson are taking it to the wire at the eighth and final round of the series. Unfortunately, Searle, who does have the upper hand heading into the weekend in terms of points, has been suffering with a recent injury, so he will need to dig deep for the title as Simpson has his eyes on the prize. Jake Millward is currently third in the series, whilst Mel Pocock and Harri Kullas are close on points for fourth position, with some excellent racing expected throughout the top 10 from Britain’s best 450cc racers.

The MX2 category will also be a hard fought affair as Revo Husqvarna riders Dylan Walsh and Alvin Ostlund will be battling it out for glory and the championship trophy. Walsh has won the previous two rounds with double moto wins, giving him the upper hand going into the final event, but anything can and does happen, so it will be a spectacle to see who will reign supreme to put their name in the MX2 history books as the 2019 champion. Honda’s Josh Gilbert is third with Martin Barr in fourth place, again both will be hoping for a strong season close. In the ACU MX2 Youth Support championship Joel Rizzi has enjoyed a strong season with eight moto wins to his name. The KTM rider has a race in hand with a 28-point advantage ahead of Landrake, where arch-rival Ike Carter will be looking for a strong finish to his season. Kyle McNicol is currently third, with Josh Peters in fourth position.

The Landrake race will be a special one for spectators as not only do they get to see the very best teams and racers compete in the adult pro categories, the Judd KTM British Youth Championship juniors will provide some outstanding racing at the Cornish circuit for the final of six rounds. In the Auto class the championship is tight at the top with Robbie Daly leading the standings by 16 points going into the Landrake event thanks to a perfect outing scoring five wins from five motos at Little Silver earlier this month. He leads hard-charging Lucas Lee and Thai rider Brian Giles going into this weekend’s finale.

In the 65cc class SJP Moto’s Reece Jones leads by 40 points, with Brandon Buckley second and Freddie Gardiner, who won the overall last time out, in third position. The 85cc Small Wheel Class has also been incredible this season, although Tyla Hooley does have a healthy points advantage going into the final round for the title, although Shaun Mahoney and Mckenzie Marshall are close on points for second and third position.

One of the closest championship categories coming into the Landrake race is the Big Wheel 85cc class where Charlie Heyman looked to have had the upper-hand earlier in the season, but the youngster has been battled hard by Sam Atkinson to bring it right down to the wire. Just two points separate the riders going into the season finale and winner of the previous round, Ollie Colmer, who sits third in the series, will surely be looking to spoil the party. In the 125cc class which, like the Open class, will be combined with the MX2 Youth category this weekend, Preston Williams has the advantage after a strong performance last time out. Jack Grayshon, who has enjoyed some good results this season, in second position and Louie Kessell in third, whilst the only decided championship this year is the Open Class in which Max Ingham won at the previous event.

This final round is also a last chance for the Judd KTM British Youth Championship riders in the SCOTT Sports Holeshot championship and the British Rookie Championship, which awards riders who are in their first season in each category. On Saturday night of the event awards will be given to the most outstanding riders of the season along with a presentation for the 2019 Team GB riders.
