Following the success of their 2020 ‘Rock it til Sundown Summer MX Classic’ the Steel Hawk Motorcycle Club are pleased to announce the date for the event in 2021.The fourth running of the all day Wednesday event will again take place at Cusses Gorse MX, Salisbury on August 4th.
After a bumper entry of riders for 2020 the ‘Rock it til Sundown’ event will again have classes for racers from the Auto class all the way up to an array of the UK’s best pro riders. The youth racing will all take place in the day, again starting with practice and qualifying at 8.30am. All five youth classes (Auto, 65cc, SW85cc, BW85cc and Rookies 125/250cc) will have the opportunity to go at it and each other throughout the day on the fantastic Cusses Gorse MX circuit, with Justin Barclay and his team again prepping the track to a national mx standard.
Once the 2021 Youth champions have been decided and crowned the attention will turn to the adult racing. For 2021 they’ll be a change of format and classes. The Clubman will be well catered for with two motos each for the MX1 and MX2 classes. The faster riders in the UK will have their chance to duke it out for the overall win in MX1 and MX2 by racing the Expert class, which will see the two classes mixed together in two motos to see who comes out on top. But the racing won’t end there, because once again they’ll be the Superfinal at the end of the evening to see who takes home the biggest cash prize of the event and ‘Rock it til Sundown’ perpetual Guitar trophy which was held aloft this year by two time champion Harri Kullas. Plans for the 2021 event are well underway as Steel Hawk MC’s Jeff Perrett explains;
“Myself, Julie and Paul are still buzzing a bit from this year’s event to be honest. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy to lay on the event with all that’s going on in the world with Coronavirus, but we decided to go for it and we’re so glad we did. It took an incredible amount of work and worry behind the scenes going back and forth with the local authorities to lay on, which Julie dealt with aplomb through all of her experience working at festivals and laying on events outside of MX.
“The job was made easier by having some awesome sponsorship partners behind us who really stepped up to the plate to take the event to another level than the first two years. They offered up some brilliant prizes for the youth racing and genuinely put some real smiles on kids faces, and for us that’s the biggest achievement of this years event. The adults didn’t too bad on that front too for a midweek evening blast! So I’d like to thank them again because it’s so greatly appreciated.
“We’ve got some new plans again for next year that we’re 100% confident will improve the event. We learned a lot again this year, some things worked better, a couple of things didn’t and we’ll always look to improve and evolve. We’ve got a few other ideas that have been in the pipeline for a year or so now and we’ll be rolling them out for 2021 and announcing them real soon, but for now we wanted to let everyone know that ‘Rock it til Sundown’ will be back in 2021, more polished and more fun, which for us is what it’s really all about. Hopefully everyone will work with us again next year like the did this year. I mean to wake up in the morning and find just one solitary bag of rubbish left on the site was brilliant. I never thought I’d be so happy to see a black bin liner in a field. Hopefully for 2021 we can go one better and be completely litter free. It’s all these little things that make a difference and keep us motivated to improve the sport and make it more attractive to the mainstream. I’d like to think people can see our passion for the sport and trying to make it better and will continue to support us, come out and have a fantastic, memorable summer’s day. We’re really looking forward to laying on the event for many years to come.”
