Read all the latest from the ClubMX team, as Nicoletti announces retirement

HEADLINE STORY: At the end of the SMX rounds this season, Phil Nicoletti  will bring his professional racing career to an end. Racing has taken him all over  the world and he has had success on so many different levels. Through eighteen  years of pro racing, Phil has established himself as one of the most popular  people in the sport. His “no nonsense” attitude has never wavered and his work  ethic is one of legend. He parlayed those traits into one of the longest careers  in the sport at the top level but there is one thing that separates him from his  peers, he performed better every year. Phil somehow managed to continually  build his skills well into his thirties and became known for his ability to start up  front against the greatest racers in the business. This did not go unnoticed as he  graced the cover of RacerX magazine earlier this year. A well-earned compliment for someone that gave so much of his life to the sport. Congratulations Phil! PHIL NICOLETTI #36: With his retirement announcement behind him, Phil, in typical fashion will focus on the task at hand – that being the first east/west shootout in Nashville. He manages his training regimen during the week to perform at his best on the weekend. With the best of the best lining up for the first time in the 250 class, they will all get a good look at the back of Phil’s bike as he rockets out of the gate one more time. These last few rounds of Supercross and the balance of the season will be bittersweet, and we hope everyone will take the time to express some gratitude for the nearly two decades of contributions Phil made to the sport.

GARRETT MARCHBANKS #26: Let us not forget that Garrett is only a few points out of third place in the western region. Although his name does not seem to come up in the conversation as a podium threat for this weekend, do not underestimate him. He has been looking forward to this race all season and with good reason – he is fast. Every team has an “alpha dog” and Garrett is ours. With that said, this race will be extremely exciting as the other teams will wrestle with who will top their finishing positions, opening the  door for Garrett to race to the front. It is going to be entertaining.

COTY SCHOCK #69: Coty has signed a three-year deal with the team and an additional outdoor deal for this year to give some stability to his career. Like the second-string quarterback getting in the game for the first time, Coty took his box of lemons and turned them into lemonade. He understands the significance of a long-term deal in this sport and will now turn all of his efforts into working with the team to improve his position on the track. Considering he is fifth in points in the eastern regional series, any improvements will bring him one step closer to the podium. Coty is well deserving of his recent accolades and accomplishments. Good things really do happen to good people. When is the last time a 250 privateer team held fourth and fifth places in the championship in two  different regions? Might be a good talking point because we do not see the effort slowing down!
