The promoters for the biggest and most anticipated event on the 2024 UK motocross calendar -VMXdN Foxhill are proud to announce John Banks as the events title sponsor for the third consecutive year.

Managing director, former Grand Prix rider and British champion Mark Banks alongside his brother Justin have been fully committed to the VMXdN Foxhill since its inception in 2022.

The John Banks Group was formed by John Banks, father of racers Mark and Justin Banks (and let’s not forget Melanie – EBB’s mum). John, himself was a top-level racer in the 60’s, so much he narrowly missed out on world championship honours twice.

In 1968, factory BSA rider John Banks was on the brink of glory. With one round of the 500cc World motocross championship left, he had a slim lead after tremendous victories in the French and Dutch GPs. The scene was set for a nail-biting showdown with reigning world champion Paul Frederichs and Swedish Husqvarna ace Ake Jonsson, but there was a problem: communism.

The final race of the year would be held in Friedrichs’ homeland of East Germany and, Communist authorities were eager to help an East German rider on a ČZ motorcycle built in a neighbouring communist country to demonstrate the inferiority of western capitalism. The East German GP was not attended by most western European riders due to the difficulty in procuring visas and travelling. That gave communist authorities the opportunity to enter several local East German competitors who helped Friedrichs to win the race by continually obstructing Banks’ path. Friedrichs’ victory in East Germany gave him a slim, one point victory over Banks in the 1968 world championship final standings.

VMXdN Foxhill is a hugely popular event not only with riders, but also with the industry and trade. The support from all parties ensures its continued standing in the calendar.

The advice is, if you would like to attend the four-day Motocross festival which is held over the August bank holiday, the 22nd– 25th, be it camping or day tickets then buy them soon, as once its full, its full!

VMXdN Foxhill 2023 become very close to maximum capacity and the promoters have indicated that based on current ticket sales they expect to sell- out pre the event. Could this be the first ever outdoor mx event to be sold out? We think it might!  Saturday, Sunday, Weekend Tickets and Camping passes are available from https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/vmxdn-foxhill-2024-tickets-753835631667
