Spain kicked off the first YZ125 Cup talent search event of 2016 at Circuito Albaida near Valencia on Feb. 7 with 12 young Yamaha riders in competition.
Former Spanish MX Elite National Champion Alvaro Lozano and local Yamaha representatives were on hand to watch, offer assistance and hand out awards as four registered Yamaha riders finished the first MX125 Campeonato de España race of the year in the Top-10, including second place Joel Anton Costas.
The Top-3 Yamaha riders in Albaida won merchandise vouchers to spend on official Yamaha parts and accessories during the Yamaha YZ125 Cup Trophy ceremony, and each race on the day featured a Yamaha-only podium.
Competition continues all across Europe, with the next scheduled events in Greece and the Netherlands on Feb. 28 to find young, talented riders for the YZ125 Cup Superfinale at the Veltins Arena in Germany in October and a chance at a 2017 Yamaha Factory sponsorship in the EMX125 category.
Registration for the YZ125 Cup is open to Yamaha YZ125 riders who compete in their 2016 national championships across Europe and ends on Feb. 29 – see here for full details.
