Former British champion Tommy Searle, who broke his collarbone in the first corner of the opening race at Valkenswaard at the MXGP of Europe in March, will make his comeback at round two of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean at Canada Heights on April 22.
The Bike It DRT Kawasaki rider – British MX1 champion in 2016 – will take a wild card ride as part of his preparations for his world championship return at the MXGP of Latvia on May 13.
“I’m looking forward to Canada Heights,” he said. “I really like the track – it’s where I grew up – so it’s always a nice race for me and it’ll be my first race since my collarbone was plated.
“I’ll ride Tuesday next week – my first ride back – and hopefully feel strong and ready to fight for a couple of wins to make my way back into championship contention.”
The three-time world MX2 vice-champion spent almost the entire 2017 season on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury just before Christmas in California. Returning to action in Switzerland, he then took a double race win at the final round of the Maxxis series at the end of August at Foxhill.
