Cab Screens Deos Group Honda headed into round three of the MX Nationals British Championship at Cusses Gorse in Wiltshire, with all three riders fit and raring to go. Harri Kullas was 3rd in the Pro MX1 title hunt after round two and Dan Thornhill is making steady progress in his return from almost 18 months on the sidelines through injury. Dan was looking to break the top 10 and was 12th in the Pro MX1 standings after two rounds.

Youth rider Joe Brookes is going great in his Rookie MXY1 year. He just needs to add consistency to speed and was looking for a podium finish at Cusses Gorse. He sat 4th in the MXY1 standings after two rounds, even with two DNF’s.

In MX1, Harri qualified 4th fastest on his Honda CRF450R with Dan in 14th. Race one start saw Harri gate well in second place, behind Russian, Evgeny Bobryshev, and then lose another spot to eventual race winner, Brent van Doninck. Harri stayed third for six laps, creeping away from Tommy Searle in 4th place, before a mechanical gremlin hit on lap 7, forcing Harri out of the race. Heartbreaking for Harri and the team. Dan was doing us proud as he moved from 13th to 9th in MX1 for a great result.

Race Two saw both our Honda CRF450R’s get great starts, as Harri pulled a holeshot and Dan had a flier from the outside and slotted into 4th place on lap one. Van Donink edged past Harri on lap one while Dan was in the mix and 5th at the end of lap one. Tommy Searle then moved past Harri and he held third for most of the race until Bobryshev pushed past to push him to 4th place with two laps to go. Dan was having a flier all race and even though he dropped a few places, still finished an awesome 8th place for 7th overall.

Dan moved up to 9th in the championship and Harri dropped to 6th

MXY1 – Joe qualified in 4th place giving him a decent start gate pick and in race one he was lying 3rd on his class at the end of lap one. Joe made a move into 2nd place on lap 4 and moved away to shake off his previous race one issues and finish a strong 2nd place. In race two it was a similar story as Joe rounded lap one in 4th place before making two passes on lap two into 2ndplace and he rode a smart race to finish 2nd again by 12 seconds. Joe again showed maturity on Sunday as he was 3rd place in race three and four, meaning he secured his first MXY1 podium with 2nd overall for the weekend. More importantly Joe moved up to 2nd in the series, behind Bobby Bruce who has now won the championship
