This weekend will see Honda Jtech’s Nick Kouwenberg make his American Supercross debut in the 250SX West Region Championship.
The first round of the season Anaheim 1, held in California’s Angel Stadium, will be Nick’s first taste of competitive supercross racing. The Dutchman has already spent several weeks in America training and acclimatising to the new tracks; as well as fine-tuning bike setup and adapting to the different riding style that supercross demands.
Widely considered to be a European rider’s dream, Kouwenberg will be looking to make the journey across the Atlantic a successful one with strong results, plus the chance to gain more competitive riding time before returning to Europe to defend his European 250 motocross title.
Supported by the K1speed/BWR engines/SSiDecals team, Kouwenberg is competing in the American 250SX West Region Championship aboard the CRF250R.
Action at Anaheim 1 (Saturday 9th January) begins with Free Practice at 1230hrs (PST), with the Main Event at 2100hrs (PST).

“It has been tough to begin with when I saw the new tracks and these guys have ridden them so many times. I’ve been concentrating on setting up the bike, getting over my jetlag and finding some speed. I honestly can’t compare this to anything else I have done in my career so it’s hard to know what to expect. To be honest I would be really stoked if I get where I expect to be, but I think it’s better not to talk about it. I put so much pressure on myself last year with the European 250 title so now I’m enjoying the trip, going to give all I can on raceday and see where we are weekend by weekend.”
