This weekend will see San Diego’s PETCO Park host the second round of the AMA 250 Supercross West Region Championship, where Nick Kouwenberg will be looking to gain experience at another Supercross track.
Kouwenberg showed good potential aboard the CRF250R at the first round in Anaheim, where he earned himself the fastest lap in the second timed practice session, before a crash in the last chance qualifier prevented him from going on to the main event.
The Dutchman will be looking to put into practice techniques learned from the first round when he tackles PETCO Park on Saturday. Although Kouwenberg has been recovering from the crash at Anaheim, he is ready to take on the next Supercross track and improve on his first round result.
PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres baseball team, was added to the Supercross calendar in 2015 as a replacement for the Qualcomm Stadium. Saturday’s visit will be the first of two to PETCO Park this year.
Nick Kouwenberg
“My place in timed practice at Anaheim wasn’t too bad for my first event and I know now where to work on for PETCO Park. I’ve been recovering from the crash and have been unable to train as much as I’d like but I’m pumped up for the weekend. I just want to work on things that can be better, riding and bike-wise, because I want to be main event ready. My goal is to ride with these main event guys, we need to improve in some places before we’re ready for that but I’m hungry to make it happen.”
