Local Riders Chasing Silverware at Darley Moor

The Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club Championship enters the second half of the season this weekend as Round 5 of the 8 Round Championship takes place on Sunday 10th July 2016 at the Darley Moor Motor Sports Centre, near Ashbourne (DE6 2ET) and there are plenty of local riders chasing the silverware and championship titles.

As most enthusiasts know, sand is a test of physical and mental strength as it always chops up mega rough and has a tendency to change from lap to lap. This weekend the fifth round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship took place in the sand of Leuchars in Scotland, where Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s Tommy Searle, Wilvo Virus Performance KTM’s Adam Sterry and Apico Husqvarna’s Alexander Brown topped the boxes in their respective classes.

NG Road Racing… Castle Combe Race Report

Stroud’s Daniel Cooper, the former 125 British champ who now focuses more on the pure roads series including the TT and North-West put his recent injury issues sustained at the North West behind him. He took first the Phoenix Open and then the King of Combe Race on his BMW S1000R. Cooper batted both times with young British Superstock runner Ben Godfrey on his brand spanking new LED Solutions BMW. The pressure that Godfrey applied to Cooper in the Phoenix open prompted Cooper and the team ….

Crewe and South Cheshire Race Report from Tonfanau

Chris Mort (Honda 600), the reigning Crewe and South Cheshire club 450-1100cc champion, made a clean sweep of his three races at Tonfanau to take a big step towards retaining his crown. With three rounds gone and just three races to go in the series, Mort leads his closest rival, James Evans (Yamaha 600 ) by 18 points, 66 to 48.

Regs are now out for the Yorkshire Dales Pre 65 Sammy Miller Trials Championship organised by Ilkley and District Motor Club. Once again the event is based in and around Pateley Bridge on 24th July with a 34 mile circular route and 31 varied but sensible sections in the heart of the spectacular Yorkshire Dales. Overnight camping is available at the start venue and as the weather has been booked, don’t miss this superb event.

ACU British Classic Enduro Championship Passes the Halfway Stage

With the recent Welsh 2 Day Enduro providing the venue for the second and third rounds of the 2016 ACU British Classic Enduro Championships as the series has now passed the halfway stage. The Championship now prepares to head to the MWTRA Ltd organised Powys Enduro on the 14th August for the fourth round before heading to the final round on the 2nd October organised by Normandy MCC.

ACU Youth and Ladies Training – August 13th

Following on from the successful Youth and Ladies training session held earlier this year on behalf of the ACU by Dan and Katy Thorpe (‘nee Sunter), the ACU are pleased to announce that another is to be held on Saturday, August 13 at Bracken Rocks near Holloway, Derbyshire, again by Dan and Katy together with Jack Stones and Matt Maynard, all four being highly respected ACU Trials Trainers. The venue has been kindly loaned by the Mansfield Maun MC.

Island Aggregates Set Foundations for Long Term Sponsorship of Southern 100 Race

Local Company, Island Aggregates and Southern 100 Racing have had a long term association since the mid 1980’s and this has been further strengthened as the company has agreed an initial four- year sponsorship deal with the organisers of the Southern 100 International Road Races.
